We call them the High Holy Days, but Yamim Noraim can best be translated as “Days of Awe.” These are days in which we step out of our daily routines and attain a sense of the sublime, a sensitivity to the mystery of life. Each year we are given the gift of time to reflect seriously on the people we have become, and dream once again about who we can be. We engage in heshbon hanefesh/intensive self reflection, in which we review our
behavior over the past year, identifying mistakes and shortcomings. And we make teshuvah - serious, sincere return, as we work to refine ourselves and repair broken relationships. We connect and reconnect with the best of ourselves, our family members, our friends, and God. Through this process, if we do it right, we are able to discover a renewed sense of wonder and purpose in our lives.
The Little Minyan has a full Little Minyan Days of Awe Schedule – 5773 and we invite you to join us for an AWEsome and meaningful experience. Our kehilla/community does not have tickets nor require a donation for the High Holy Days. What we do ask for and need is your generosity in a variety of ways. Volunteering to schlep prayer books, bringing food to share, participating in services, as well as your monetary contributions are what keep us going. In so many
ways, it is our kehilla’s generosity and avodah – prayer in action, work of the heart, and service to the community – that makes our inclusiveness possible. Please fill out our electronic Little Minyan Days of Awe Sign Up to volunteer to be of service and to let us know to expect you. Whether you’re thinking of joining our Little Minyan for the first time or you are already a member, this is a great way to get to know us.
